Monday (6/12) Faculty of Engineering, University of Muhammadiyah Malang held the handover of the new Head of Study Program-Sekprodi positions for each Department within the FT. The majors include Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Informatics, and Professional Engineer Programs. On this occasion, new Heads of Study Programs-Sekprodi were inaugurated for the next 4 years (2021 – 2025). The inauguration was attended by all ranks of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering.
Prof. Ir. Ilyas Masudin, ST., MLogSCM., Ph.D. as the Dean provides direction regarding the challenges of the Faculty and Study Programs for the next few years. The certainty of students graduating on time is a major concern that needs to be encouraged by all study programs to increase the value of accreditation. One of the efforts to accelerate graduation on time is by means of equivalence or awards for student achievements in academic and non-academic fields. In addition, good final project coordination management is also the key to avoiding bottlenecks at the end of the lecture period.
Still, in the field of student affairs, the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering also targets job security for students of the Faculty of Engineering, as previously announced by the Chancellor of UMM. Every graduate of FT UMM must have sufficient competence for a career in their field. Therefore, each study program needs to improve its curriculum so that it is based on OBE (Outcome Based Education), which has been adapted to the industrial world. The establishment of COE (Center of Excellence) which has been established is a concrete step for the Study Program to prepare its graduates to be ready to work. In addition, the curriculum also needs to be based on digital entrepreneurs as an alternative form for students to have a career in entrepreneurship.
On that occasion, the Dean also mentioned the campus internationalization plan, including downstream (related to publications, commercialization, and IPR), international cooperation, and international accreditation. Not to forget, he also advised the Study Program to always maintain this interest in teaching, one of which was by establishing an International Class Pilot Project.
The leadership period of the new Head of Study Programs and Study Programs is filled with young faces with high enthusiasm and energy to continue working. Some of them are Dr. Yepy Komaril Sofi'i, ST., MT. (Mechanical Engineering Department), Merinda Lestandy, S.Kom., MT. (Secretary of Electrical Engineering), and Ikhlasul Amallynda, ST., MT (Sek of Industrial Engineering). This regeneration is expected to be able to provide many new breakthroughs at the study program level so that the Faculty of Engineering is ready to face challenges in the era of the industrial revolution 5.0.
