Malang, (4/7) Faculty of Engineering through the LSO Robotic UMM Team won a medal in a prestigious event. This time, the UMM Robotics Team won it in the annual Puspresnas competition, namely KRI (Indonesian Robot Contest) in 2022. KRI is an event that accommodates prospective Engineers to work and innovate in the field of robotics and mechatronics. This activity focuses on a design and engineering competition in the field of robotics organized by the National Achievement Center, Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Indonesia. The categories of competitions held include the Indonesian ABU Robot Contest (KRAI), Indonesian Search and Rescue Robot Contest (KRSRI), Indonesian Football Robot Contest (KRSBI), Indonesian Dance Robot Contest (KRSTI), and Indonesian Thematic Robot Contest (KRTMI).
At the KRI 2022 event, the UMM Electrical Engineering robotic team only participated in three divisions, namely the KRSRI, Wheeled KRSBI, and KRTMI divisions. The KRSRI Division for Region II was attended by 52 universities (PT), KRSBI Wheeled 26 PT, and KRTMI 29 PT. In the KRSRI Division Region II level, the Electrical Engineering robot team of the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) won second place, while the first, third, and hope winners were won by the Surabaya State Electronics Polytechnic (PENS), Muhammadiyah Surakarta University (UMS), and State University Yogyakarta (UMY). As for the wheeled KRSBI and KRTMI divisions, the UMM robot team was ranked 9th and 15th.
The KRSRI division robot team, named DOME, has indeed become a regular champion at the National level. At last year's event, DOME won 1st place. This achievement is considered very good considering the renewal of the competition model that continues to occur every year. The supervisor of the UMM Robotics team, Khusnul Hidayat, explained that the short work of the robot and the weak accuracy of victim detection were obstacles for DOME to solve on this year's KRI. "The robot team will make several improvements to be able to defend the title, namely replacing the victim detection sensor which is more accurate and reliable so that the robot can always save victims to the safety-zone. The next strategy is to increase the speed of the robot, where the speed of the robot during the Regional Level Contest only uses 25% of the maximum speed," he added.
