Malang, July 10, 2024 - The University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held a Guest Lecture with the theme "Building a Career and Professional Network through Public Speaking" at the GKB III Hall, 6th Floor. This event was held as part of the 2024 Capstone Design Project activities, which were attended by Electrical Engineering students of the 2020 Class and were open to the public.
This guest lecture was held in the context of the 2024 Electrical Engineering Expo, where UMM Electrical Engineering students showcased their various works and innovations as part of the graduation requirements.
Mrs. Tanti Nur Dwiyanti, an experienced practitioner in the broadcasting industry for more than 10 years, was the main speaker in this guest lecture. She emphasized the importance of public speaking skills in building a career and professional network in the workplace.
"In the workplace, we cannot only rely on technical skills. Public speaking skills and an understanding of personal branding are also the keys to success," said Tanti Nur Dwiyanti. "I hope that with an opportunity like this, students can feel the great benefits of being in an organization while in college."
This event also presented an interactive session, where participants were invited to do public speaking, introduce themselves, and participate in a constructive question and answer session.
"When we have graduated from college, technical skills are very important, but soft skills such as public speaking should not be ignored. This helps us build a reputation and recognize our potential widely in the job market," she added.
This guest lecture not only provided insight into public speaking but also encouraged students to develop themselves in areas that support their future careers.
