Malang, May 11, 2024 - The Faculty of Engineering, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) held the Period II Graduation Ceremony of 2024 today, Wednesday, May 11, 2024. Taking place in the Faculty of Engineering Hall, GKB III UMM, 6th floor, this event released 123 graduates from 5 study programs, namely Informatics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Civil Engineering.
The graduation ceremony began with the reading of the holy verses of the Quran and singing the songs Indonesia Raya and Sang Surya. Continued with remarks from the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, UMM.
Dean of the Faculty of Engineering UMM, Prof. Ir. Ilyas Masudin, ST., M.LogSCM, Ph.D in his speech congratulated the graduates on their success in completing their studies at the Faculty of Engineering UMM. He advised the graduates to continue learning and working and to devote their knowledge to the advancement of the nation and state.
"I hope the graduates can become alumni with Islamic character, intelligence, and achievements. Don't be easily satisfied with what you have achieved so far, continue to learn and work for the advancement of the nation and state," said Prof. Ilyas.
This graduation also presented two important sessions, namely the alumni motivation session and the scientific oration session. Gusti Dermawan, ST, a graduate of the 2018 Industrial Study Program, motivated the graduates to dare to step forward and achieve their dreams. He shared his experiences during his career in the industry and provided success tips for the graduates.
Meanwhile, the scientific oration session was filled by UMM Electrical Engineering Lecturer, Dr. Budhi Priyanto, M.Sc.. In his oration, Mr. Budhi delivered the results of his research on carbon activation analysis from palm fiber waste. He explained that palm fiber waste can be processed into activated carbon which has high economic value and can be used for various applications, such as water treatment, pharmaceutical industry, and food industry.
The graduation ceremony was closed with the awarding of awards to the best graduates and the symbolic presentation of diplomas. The graduates and invited guests then shook hands and took pictures together as beautiful memories.
The UMM Faculty of Engineering Graduation Period II in 2024 is expected to produce the next generation of the nation who are competent and have an Islamic character, who are ready to devote their knowledge to the progress of the nation and state.
