ST Langgeng Jaya bridge team UMM Successfully Achieved the Most Popular Design

The bridge team of ST Langgeng Jaya, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) won the Most Popular Design at the 2019 Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Bridge Design Competition in Singapore, (9-10 / 3) ago. Not only that, the team fronted by Vicky Adjie Saputra and Novan Surya Adityawan was also ranked in the top 10 for this prestigious bridge competition in Southeast Asia.
 
This international event was the first time participated by the UMM bridge team. "So far we have participated in and won various bridge design events at the national level. Now it is time for us to study outside to plant the UMM flag in the international arena, "said Ir. Erwin Rommel, MT. as the supervisor of the Langgeng Jaya ST Team who is a lecturer in Civil Engineering at UMM.
 
Bridges are tested through efficiency and strength criteria. This assessment refers to the theme of the competition namely Strength, Economic, Sustainability. "So the committee told us what to do, a few hours before the match. What is assessed in terms of the use of materials as efficiently as possible, and is able to withstand the test load as hard as possible, to the point of destruction, "he explained.
 
There are at least 38 teams that competed in the event participated by various universities in Southeast Asia. Not to forget the prestigious universities in the country also helped enliven. Such as the University of Indonesia (UI), the Ten November Institute of Technology (ITS) and various campuses that often win other national-level bridge competitions, including the UMM Solar Team.
 
"Before this event began there was some preparation and readiness that we had done a few weeks before. Among them by testing several types of bridge designs, then we evaluate and improve so that we are able to find the right design, "he continued. Finally, the value of honesty and sportsmanship in competition is always instilled in the members of the Surya Team UMM. (riz / can)
