UMM Departs 21 Students for Internship Program to Japan

Universitas Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) earlier this year sent 21 students in batches to participate in an internship program to Japan. The participants of this program came from the Faculty of Engineering (FT) and the Faculty of Agriculture & Animal Husbandry (FPP) with 10 and 11 students respectively. Participants from FT came from the Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Civil Engineering Study Programs. While participants from FPP came from the Agrotechnology, Agribusiness, and Forestry Study Programs. This program is carried out in groups at 5 different locations in Japan according to the scientific fields of the participating students. Faculty of Engineering students conducted internship programs in the plastic molding industry and maintenance of PLTS construction. Meanwhile, FPP students were placed in three different farm locations. The first wave of departures was held at the end of November 2022. The second wave will depart on January 15, 2023, and the rest will depart at the end of January and mid-February 2023. The duration of the internship program for each group is also different, consisting of 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months.

This activity is carried out as part of UMM's Merdeka Learning Campus (MBKM) activities in collaboration with partners abroad. This program aims for internship program participants to have work experience and understand work culture in Japan, as well as gain experience living abroad with a much different culture and language.
