Therefore, maintaining vehicle engines during the rainy season is very important. Mr. Dr. Ir. Achmad Fauzan Hery Soegiharto, a lecturer in mechanical engineering at the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM), provided several suggestions for vehicle maintenance, especially during the rainy season.
Mr. Fauzan, his nickname, revealed how important it is for drivers to check all parts of the vehicle before entering the rainy season, from the exterior to the interior of the vehicle. He emphasized the importance of tires that are in good condition to provide a stronger grip, by paying attention to the lines on the tires so that they are not too smooth. This aims to avoid hydroplating or slipping when the road is slippery. Apart from that, the brakes should also be checked to check the condition of the canvas.
Apart from that, he also suggests checking the vehicle's electrical system because water and electricity don't always work well together. Make sure the vehicle's electrical system is protected from moisture and rainwater, especially the parts located under the vehicle. Also, make sure the vehicle's lubrication system is properly maintained to prevent water damage.
Fauzan emphasized the importance of checking the car cabin seal and ensuring there are no leaks that could cause problems during the rain. AC inspection is also important to prevent condensation in the cabin. For the outside, check the wiper water because this is an important component to maintain stability when it rains.
Lastly, he highlights the undercarriage and paintwork of vehicles which, although not technical components, are susceptible to corrosion and damage during the rainy season. Vehicle preparation and maintenance can have a major impact on driving safety and comfort. Fauzan reminded us that routine maintenance is very important, and scheduling regular maintenance on motorized vehicles will ensure that everything functions well throughout the year, both in the dry season and the rainy season.
