Concerned about Sustainable Development, FT UMM Holds SDGs Socialization

Malang (22/9), the Faculty of Engineering, University of Muhammadiyah Malang witnessed real efforts to achieve Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) through an outreach event held in the Faculty of Engineering Meeting Room on Friday, 22 September 2023. This event was a concrete step in encouraging awareness and action on sustainable development issues.

The event, which was attended by several important officials at the Faculty of Engineering, had the main agenda, namely the presentation of Sustainable and Development Goals delivered by Mr. Prof. Ignatius D.A. Sutapa, M.Sc., who also serves as Executive Director of APCE – UNESCO C2C (Asia Pacific Center of Excellence for Curriculum to Career). Professor Ignasius, known as an expert in the field of sustainable development, provided in-depth insight into the importance of achieving the SDGs in global and national contexts.

This event was also attended by Mr. Zulfatman, Ph.D., Deputy Dean I of the Faculty of Engineering, who gave a warm welcome to the participants. In his speech, he expressed how important the role of the Faculty of Engineering is in achieving the SDGs, especially in integrating the principles of sustainable development into the curriculum and research activities.

Invitations for this event were widely spread, including Heads of Study Programs, Secretary of Study Programs, and Heads of Laboratories within the Faculty of Engineering, as well as the Center for Engineering and Study Center team at the Faculty of Engineering. These participants from various academic and research backgrounds provided a rich diversity of perspectives in discussions about how the Faculty of Engineering can play an active role in achieving the SDGs.

It is hoped that the socialization of the SDGs Center at the Faculty of Engineering can be the first step in promoting awareness and real action to achieve sustainable development goals. Through collaboration between stakeholders in the Faculty of Engineering, it is hoped that innovation and concrete solutions can be created to support the SDGs locally and globally.
