Malang, (17/03) The MBKM (Merdeka Learning Merdeka Campus) program launched by the Ministry of Education and Culture initiates various educational institutions to play an active role in collaborating with as many partners as possible. This was later captured by the Faculty of Engineering as an opportunity, not only collaborating with DUDI, but also national high schools in the context of recruiting new students. Recently, the UMM Faculty of Engineering collaborated with SMK Muhammadiyah 8 Paciran, Lamongan for the MBKM program.
The visit of SMK Muhammadiyah 8 Paciran was held on March 17, 2022, attended by around 150 students majoring in Light Vehicle Engineering and Informatics. Students visit several locations, such as the Mechanical and Electrical Engineering Laboratory, LSO Mechatronics, and the Informatics Laboratory. On this occasion, the Principal of SMKM 8 Paciran, Alimin, ST and the Head of the UMM Mechanical Engineering Study Program, Iis Siti Aisyah, ST., MT., Ph.D., signed a memorandum of cooperation agreement (MoU). Alimin said, "We do this collaboration in order to bridge our students to be able to do internships, get to know the campus world. So, when they graduate, there are many alternatives that can be taken, not only for work, but also continuing their studies at well-known universities such as UMM. I used to be an alumni of UMM Mechanical Engineering."
This MoU was also welcomed by Iis as a representative of the UMM Faculty of Engineering. "It's very nice to accept SMK students, especially teachers who are familiar with the UMM campus environment. We hope that the collaboration will be more intense and more students will join the big family of the UMM Faculty of Engineering," he said.
