Struggling to win! That is the motto that is often echoed by all members of the LSO Mechatronic UMM team at every National and International competition. However, the motto is not just a figment of imagination, the expectations set by the campus are answered with endless achievements.
Is Mr. Drs. Moh. Jufri, MT, Supervisor of LSO Mekatronic UMM, is the actor behind the brilliance of a group of students who are members of the Faculty of Engineering who have achieved success (take a peek at LSO Mekatronic's achievements).
The Secret to Team Success
Mr. Jufri said that success must be achieved through hard work. "In my early years coaching LSO Mekatronic, every team member had to be motivated so that a spirit and culture of never giving up was formed. "Now, it's up to older siblings to replace that role," he said.
Eliminate the Dominance of ITS and Shipping Polytechnic
Who would have thought, that the Malang Muhammadiyah University Fast Boat team, which has competed in the KKCTBN for the past few years, has succeeded in dominating the event. Large campuses with shipping basics such as ITS, PENS, and the Surabaya Shipping Polytechnic were also left out in the Electric Remote Control (ERC) and Fuel Engine Remote Control (FERC) categories.
“Yes, indeed we won almost all the competitions in the ERC and FERC classes. This cannot be separated from the research we did to compete with other contestants. "Even though it's a state campus, we still balance it," explained Amin Abil, chairman of LSO Mekatronic.
Electrifying Sepang to Mandalika
Not only the National competition, the Mekatronic team also dominated the economic car event at the international level. Call it the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia (SEMA) event which was attended by many countries, the UMM team also always finished and won points.
At SEMA in 2023, the Mekatronic team lowered the urban electric and proto gasoline category cars which had kicked the top 5 positions, eliminating several teams from prestigious state campuses and other countries.
