The workshop of Civil Engineering UMM |
Saturday, May 10, 2014 the lecturer of Civil Engineering UMM held workshop related to Curriculum Based on Competency-National Qualification Framework Indonesia (KBK-KKNI). This activity was attended by Syamsul Arifin as the speaker from ITS explained about KKNI.
The event was started with speech from Ir. Rofikatul Karimah, MT, as Head of Civil Engineering Department UMM then speech from Ir. Sudarman MT as the Dean of Engineering Faculty UMM. Before enter to the next speaker about KKNI that event was added with coffee break in 30 minutes.
Theme in this discussion season is “Pengembangan dan Pemutakhiran Kurikulum Menuju Kurikulum Berbasis Kompetensi Kerangka Kualifikasi Nasional Indonesia (KBK – KKNI)”. The first speaker is Syamsul Arifin discussed about Distance Education (PJJ). The concept of distance education by utilizing communication media so between learner and teacher does not need face to face in learning. In addition, the purpose is to increase the scope of access to learn and also to share information and knowledge.
This workshop was also to prepare Civil Engineering lecturer UMM to adapt with new curriculum it is KKNI that previously used KBK. Arifin also reminded to all participant of workshop to prepare them for AFTA which is Asian policy for independence in employment between countries.
In his speech from the beginning KKNI not concerned to curriculum because more emphasized for work, but because college is the producer of human resource so need the adaptation. KKNI is one of system to provide recognition in the field of job because of the time that has been taken. Example D3 graduate, because has taken in the particular job for several years so can be recognized in the same level as bachelor degree with the qualification provision that will be defined in regulation.
