Lombok (9/7), Still from the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2023, this time the UMM Mechatronic 3 Team succeeded in making a brilliant achievement by entering the top 10 energy-saving cars in the Proto Gasoline category in the competition. This prestigious event was held in Mandalika from 4 to 9 July 2023. Even though the weather was cloudy so the race schedule did not go according to plan, the UMM Mekatronic 3 team managed to show their extraordinary performance. In this event, the UMM Mechatronic 3 Team entrusted control of their electric car to a talented driver, Garibaldi Sadam. This team successfully passed the Technical Inspection stage, showing that the cars they made met the specified safety and quality standards. After that, they are ready to advance to the real competition round.
During the competition, the UMM Mechatronic 3 Team had the opportunity to carry out 2 of the 4 permitted trials or attempts. The other 2 attempts failed so they were considered DNF (Do not finish). The results they achieved were truly satisfying, achieving an efficiency of 409 kilometers per liter (km/liter). This figure shows that the proto-gasoline electric car they designed is capable of traveling long distances with very efficient use of fuel. The achievements achieved by the UMM Mechatronic 3 Team should not be taken lightly. They managed to beat participants from Vietnam and the Philippines, who were strong competitors in the Proto Gasoline category. This proves that this team has extraordinary excellence and quality in creating alternative fuel car technology.
The team manager, Evita Lenida, expressed her satisfaction with the results achieved by her team. In an interview, Evita Lenida said, "Of course, we are quite satisfied with the results we got. Being able to appear on the Mandalika Circuit is a pride in itself, moreover, we can bring the good name of the UMM Faculty of Engineering. We need to fight even harder so that in next year's competition We can achieve better results." The success of the UMM Mechatronic Team in the Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2023 is also a source of pride for the University of Muhammadiyah Malang (UMM) as a whole. This university is the only private university that has won positions and points in this prestigious competition. This proves that UMM has a strong dedication to developing environmentally friendly technologies and innovating in the energy sector.
