Malang, (26/10), the Faculty of Engineering, University of Muhammadiyah Malang (FT-UMM) has launched an ambitious research initiative that will bring positive change to pressing global issues. On October 26, 2023, FT-UMM held a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) which aims to lead and facilitate collaboration between researchers, students and practitioners in responding to global challenges.
The FGD which was held in the FT Meeting Room was an effort by FT-UMM to bring global issues closer to the academic community and encourage collaboration across scientific disciplines. This activity was led by Mr. Dr. Amrul Faruq, S.T., M.Eng., a leading lecturer at FT-UMM who has extensive experience in the field of research and sustainable development.
One important aspect of this initiative is its strong direction towards the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Every lecturer at FT-UMM is encouraged to direct his research towards the SDGs, with the hope that this research will provide concrete solutions to global issues such as climate change, poverty, inequality, and other problems facing the world today.
Apart from that, each study program at FT-UMM was also instructed to form a superior research center that focuses on SDGs issues. This aims to facilitate collaboration between study programs and explore greater research potential. This research center will play an important role in presenting innovative solutions relevant to global issues.
Apart from FGDs and the creation of superior research centers, FT-UMM will also actively seek international-level collaborative networks. This will help researchers and students at FT-UMM to interact with the global community who have a deep understanding of global issues and can contribute to their resolution.
This ambitious initiative marks FT-UMM's strong commitment to play an active role in overcoming global challenges and creating positive change. It is hoped that through collaboration, research, and a strong commitment to the SDGs, FT-UMM will be one of the pioneers in efforts to answer urgent global issues.
